I have no video or audio output using component connection on my tv, why?

I've just inherited a 32 inch Acoustic Solutions HD tv, for whatever reason, when i output my PS3 or freeview box using HDMI, anything that is white is replaced by yellow so i bought a HDMI male to Component Out cable, but now i've connected the hdmi to my ps3, and the component to my tv, on my tv it says 'YPbPr not available' (this is the component source), why is this ?
