Can I get DTV with a converter box if my analog reception is slightly snowy & shadowy?
I live in a rural area 30 miles east of Cincinnati and am planning to get a DTV converter box. I have one question. Can I even get DTV here. In analog, all the local channels (5,9,12,19,48, and 64) have shadows in the picture, and channels19,48,and 64 have some snow. Can I recieve DTV broadcasts if analog reception isn't crystal clear?
I especially need to know if I can recieve channel 19. It is the FOX affiliate and I love FOX. It has some snow and some shadowing. Also, I have an unamplified indoor antenna. The antenna is an RCA ANT108.
Here are the call letters of my local channels if it helps. Maybe someone can find their range or wattage.

ch. 9- WCPO
ch. 12- WKRC
ch. 19- WXIX
ch. 48- WCET
ch. 64- WSTR
You will most likely still be able to receive digital tv with a perfect picture, even if your analog signal is just a little distorted with a bit of static or a few shadowing channels here and there. However, if your picture is so bad that it is even beyond identification or not watchable, then chances are you are going to need to upgrade your antenna. I've heard that with some of the highest rated converter boxes that have some sensitive tuners that you can still watch a channel as long as it's just over the 20% mark on the signal meter. If all the conditions seem right in your area, then you should do just fine sitting back and relaxing and enjoying static-free digital tv!
