does anyone have experiance working on a 2002 toyota tacoma sr5 rear brakes?

I need info on the valve above the axle at the rear and the procedure for bleeding it , it it does get bled. what is the purpose of this strange valve. it has a rod that connects to the rear end. seams like some odd anti lock system or maybe an anti skip comcept.

it is your load sensing proportioning valve. the rod connects to the body/bed to signal the valve that a load has been put into the vehicle and it uses that information to adjust the "proportion" of braking power to the rear brakes. It should not need to be bled, unless you removed or replaced it. If so, I would just bleed the rear brakes at the wheel cylinders (with help) and any air in the valve should move out thru the wheel cylinders. Good Luck-- T&T
