How do I fix my 30GB apple ipod earphone sound?

I bought a 30GB Apple Ipod and the sound only plays on 1 side of earphones. I changed the earphone jack and checked 4 different kind of earphones and it still only sounds on 1 side of earphones. What or how do I fix this?

when you connect ur ipod open itunes. then open the "EQ". then look for the balance bar and put it in the middle
