Whe I play Music through Windows Media Player it turns the Volume of my Audio down to Zero why?

You hear the music at whatever the volume on WMP is set to. But if you try and play from another source(eg Internet, other Audio programs) the Audio is turned down to Zero.
Is this a setting I can adjust, please help?
