Auto 91 Ply Laser car sat for 5 yrs. now trans only rev & 1st rebtrans has 20k whats wrong wtrans. fliud gd?
If it drove fine before you before you parked it, then just change the trans fluid with filter. Easily accessible and can be done by you at home. Its like 12 bolts around the pan and 2 1/8inch allan head bolts to remove the filter. Filter kit should cost around $18.00 at Autozone. Refill with trans fluid and use a Bottle of "Lucas Trans Treatment" the perfect product for things that have sat for along time.
I recommend when changing trans fluid to pull the tranny lines loose. ( 2 rubber hoses going close to the area where your trans pan is. And use anything to blow out those lines. That will clear the fluid out of the lines where it goes through the radiator. You can even use a tire pump.
It is adviable to use "chrysler only" trans fluid. You can use dextron but I recommend chryslers (not the brand) the made for that car type. Chrysler trans fluid has an additive that none of the others do. On all newer chrysler products you will kill a trans by using but the right fluid. Ford and Chevy are more forgivable.
When you do the trans fluid and filter,. After adding lucas. Start the car and let it run a few minutes. Then put it in drive and then reverse. Do this about 10 times. Drive, count to three then reverse count to 3. 10 times. Then check the fluid again while it is running. Top off as needed. Then let run another 15 minutes to get the lucase worked in and try it!
