Can someone help me figure out how to set up my home theater system?

I just bought a DAVHDX275 home theater system and the Bravia KDL-32L4000 LCD tv. I also have a HD Set Top box from my cable company. The HD box is plugged into HDMI 1, and the DAVHDX275 is in HDMI 2. The TV works fine with the home theater system I'm using the DVD function, but when I switch to watch tv from the HD box the home theater speakers do not work (in TV/Video mode).

Connect optical cable or composite cables ( red & white ) output from cable box to system input.
