power transistors on left channel of shp1 seeburg amp running very hot, any ideas please?
have replaced driver transistors & all other transistors except ones on pre amp board. I now have good sound but left channel power transistors are very hot within a few seconds of turning on. any ideas please. sorry power transistors are new too & have tried swapping them over between channels
The quiescent bias is too high on that channel. Whereas I do not have specific knowledge of the amp you mentioned, I have repaired audio equipment for many years. Some units have a bias adjustment pot to set the output stage bias. Some do not. If these are bi-polar transistors, measure the potential across their emitter resistors to check for excessive bias. Carefully check all biasing components for an out of spec condition. Also, check for leaky coupling capacitors which could throw off bias settings. It would be helpful for you to have a schematic diagram for testing and analysis.
