Is my amplifier too strong for my subwoofers?
I have 2 15" P3 rockford fosgate subwoofers which are 500 RMS/1000 peak each. They are both hooked up to a Diesel Audio 3000 watt mono amplifier. The rating on this amp is 3000 watt at 1XRMS, 1500 watts at 2XRMS ect. My question is: Is this amp way to much for the subwoofers? And i really dont know what OHMS they are set at right now. Can anyone help me? Thank you sooo mmmuuccchhh!
No way in heck that thing makes 3000 watts RMS, sorry. It probably realistically makes 1000-1200 watts RMS. So you should be fine. Even if it could, a stock alternator on a car cannot give it enough juice to make that power. You would definetly need a high output alternator.
"ohms" is just a figure of electrical resistance. You have to match them. If you want to run that amp at 1 ohm with a pair of P3 subs, they need to be the dual 4 ohm version.
