Is digital portable voice recorders better than tape?
You know the little voice recorders that reporters and people who work for news papers use.
Is the digital voice recorders better than the tape ones?
Wondering because the digital ones are expensive and it would seem difficult to not get your recordings mixed up with out separate tapes.
Yes, much better: with Digitals you can skip from message to message in a heart beat with each press of the forward button - very nice. And if you erase message number 4 out of 10 total messages then that space is reclaimed in memory - whereas on a tape player you can't do that.
The only thing tape offers that is cool is the ability to swap out the tapes and keep recording - good for long missions behind enemy lines to get some notes on their new technology (wink, wink...).
Digitals can do something similar - they can be hooked up to a USB port to download the messages as files to your computer for saving - but then again those models are even more costly than the regular basic digitals - and you would have to wait until you would be able to get to a computer.
I use my digital for numerous and constantly changing memo notes to myself, and for that they are the better choice over tape...
