How should I clean the disc player on my computer?
I've been playing some DVDs lately, and sometimes the picture freezes, and the words repeat. I'm guessing it might just be dirty. I know it's not just one particular DVD, because several have done that.
Or is there another reason it could be acting that way?

Getting dirty is usually not a problem with optical drives (there is no way to clean one, just to answer your question). There could be a couple of things wrong.
1. Your drive is becoming faulty. In this case you should just replace it. These days DVD drives are extremely cheap, so it is a painless process.
2. It may not be the drive or the DVDs, but your operating system, or some software on it is interfering with DVD playback. I would try downloading a different video player and give your dvds a go with that one. Try VLC, it is what I use and it should be able to play anything without any trouble.
