Is it possible to switch out of Dolby digital while watching a movie?

I'm watching a DVD but my surround sound isn't working. Can I just play it thru my TVs speakers? I have a vizio.

Yes, I'm assuming that you have your sound hooked up to the TV or could do so. You don't have to have the surround sound. It can be done though the TV speakers, it just won't be as nice.
