On a DVD drive on a computer, is dual layer and double layer the same thing?
My DVD-ROM says Double Layer DVD-RW but i am not sure if i can burn dual layer disks and dont want to buy them and not be able to. its a "lite-on dvdrw shw-160p6s"

A Dual-Layer DVD differs from from a standard DVD by employing a second physical layer within the disc itself. A drive with dual layer capability accesses the second layer by shining the laser through the first semi-transparent layer.
Dual layer recording is available on DVD-R and DVD+R discs for storing significantly more data, up to 8.5 GB per disc, compared with 4.7 GB for single-layer discs.
Dual layer and dual sided are 2 totaly different things, hard to believe your a top contributer Jim.
