what dvd disc should i use to record on more than once. My recorder says to finalise disc after recording.?
After i finalise the disc, it cannot be used again. The disc has to be finalised to play on another dvd player.
DVD blank media comes in two forms, write once and rewritable. Then, again, two format types of media as well, +R and -R, +RW and -RW. The + and - are important as that indicates what kind of laser is used. Check the documentation for what type and kind your recorder uses. My recorder uses -R and -RW disks for recording, but can read all 4 types. The RW stands for rewritable. The person who said the R disk can be used more than once is WRONG. You can add additional tracks to a R disk until it is full, but once finalized, can no longer be written to. With a rewritable, you can "unfinalize" the disk and delete individual tracks, record more and then finalize the disk again. The reason why you have to finalize the disk before it can be played on a different DVD players is, the menu and table of contents is not written until you finalize. Without the table of contents and menu system written to disk, it will not play in MOST DVD players, but it WILL play in some and may play in a DVD drive in a computer.
