Which speakers are best for my car?

I have a '97 Mercury Tracer and I'm finally getting around to replacing the original OE cassette system and busted paper speakers. The 3 speaker brands I'm considering (the only complete sets that fit my car) are Blaupunkt, Polk, and Sony. The Polk DBs are the most expensive for a set of 4 at $130 for 55/60w RMS (front/rear), the Sony GTs are $125 for 40/35w RMS, and the Blaupunkt GTXs are 45/40w RMS for $90. In terms of power, I think any of these would suffice because the head unit is only 14w per channel. The Blaupunkts have foam surrounds while the other two brands use rubber surrounds. The foam makes me a little nervous with concerns of how well they'd hold up. I don't blast my music though. I want the best sound quality for the money. Not looking to add an amp or subs. Just a basic CD player and 4 speaker setup here. So which do you recommend?

there is lots that sound better then MB Quart....above needs to get out more..

your question is actually impossible to answer.....due to your own preferences in sound.....the only suggestion i can honestly give you is take a favorite cd...or song...and go and audition the speakers you wish to purchase at locations that offer the brands you seek....if you buy from the store or on line then you at least will have your own experiences in sound ..and what you expect for sound...

eg when choosing my own speakers....for my car system..and for my home system...it took a week and several hours to decide what was best( not just name brand's) for my set up....but that's just me..being a audiophile and perfectionist in reproduced sound..not to mention the interconnects to make sure losses of signal were minimal
