Why do I get an intermittant loss of sound when upscaling standard def dvds on the PS3?
When playing SD DVDs without upscaling, the sound through my Samsung LCD is fine. The two are connected by an HDMI 1.3 cable, (no optical input on my Panasonic home cinema). However, when i upscale the DVD the sound keeps disappearing. I've noticed this on a couple of DVDs. Unfortunately, I haven't got any Blu-Ray discs yet to see if the same problem occurs.
A PS3 has a built-in Blu-Ray disc player. It is hard for it to be able to meet with the levels as a regular DVD player would. So basically, the PS3 was made to read Blu-Ray discs. Period.
