why wont my ipod shuffle first generation play?
ok i know this thing is acient, but when i plug it in to my laptop it can be found and i can add songs and do whatever i want. But whn i unplug it it doesnt respond to ANYTHING i tried everything, presing play and pause turning the volunme up, making sure i have my headphones plgged in all the way and i dont even get a green or orange blink. u have reset it on my computer and it still didnt do anything, so i wasted an hour putting sings on it. what do i do?

Sounds like it might be a dying battery. Wikipedia has an interesting article on the batteries inside iPods. Rechargeable batteries can only be recharged so many times before they go into "deep discharge". Eventually, they'll never hold a charge again, and you've got, for all practical purposes, a small-capacity thumb drive.
