Problems with the sound of my home cinema?

I have just set up my home cinema system, when I do an all test on all speakers they all make a sound (individually). But when listening to music, or the radio. I can only here the subwoofer and the two front speakers the others you have to put your ear on them to hear the slightest sound. Have I set it up wrong? How can I get them all to be on the same level of loudness? Any ideas?

Music is only stereo unless it has been recorded specifically in surround sound, so it will only play out of the main front speakers and the subwoofer. There are some receivers that will have a preset setting to allow you to play music on all speakers. Otherwise just enjoy the music in stereo as most people do.
