GOOD External Hard Drive???
I bought a Western Digital 500GB external hard drive from Best Nuy cuz the guy said it was a good brand, and i liked the design and price of it. But after using it for a few days, it likes to not work. I'll set it up and it comes on quickly but after anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours the computer will stop reading it. (not consistant in timing but will always do it) Sometimes I will be able to open the files/folders and view them, sometimes it will show up blank. The only thing I can count on is that it will always do this. I have to shut everything down and turn it back on again and THEN it seems to work.
I am a DJ, and in the middle of a show, it shut down on me. Can't have that! I have another drive that I got from CAVS(karaoke) I think the name of it is "mobile desk" but not sure...can't find the brand online anywhere, but this never shuts down on me, but only 160GB.
(using with Toshiba Satelitte laptop)
I would suggest getting an internal HITACHI deskstar, and enclosing it in a 3.5 enclosure, available for about $20-$50.
The price, including the enclosure will probably be higher, but the reliability will be much better.
