to use a .kar file in a karaoke machine via disk does it need to be burned to a CDRW or a DVDR+ etc?

Im hoping to download some .kar files for my children's karaoke machine but im not sure how to burn them to a disk that's suitable to play in the karaoke machine that it will still display the vocals on screen.

The .kar files are a midi format and cannot be played on a karaoke machine.
