What would be the cheapest way to make my own songs/music on my computer?
I want to get Cakewalk 2 Music Creator. I need to get a sound card the has a MIDI input I think. I want to get a cheap MIDI compatible keyboard for now and a nice microphone (My lapel mic makes crackle sounds when I use Windows sound recorder, I am hoping a nice mic and sound card will come in clear). Please let me know how I can hook up a cheap way to make songs/music. I regret all the times I have had songs in my head and no way to express myself (like even a microcassette recorder would have helped, or would it be a digital recorder in this day and age?). Thanks for your help in advance.
I recommend getting a package like this: http://www.homerecorder.com/products/bundles/fw410novapt.html . It's great for home recording. You get industry standard Pro Tools software, a compatible audio/MIDI interface and a nice entry level condenser mic for $650. That's the way to go if you want to start making great sounding recordings at home.
