Help converting mini disc to edit video content using Adobe?

I have finalized video on a mini disc and I am having trouble opening the files so I can edit them using Adobe Premiere Elements. Am I needing to convert the files to something else? They are video ts files right now and Adobe doesn't seem to be recognizing them. Any help would be appreciated.

a much easier alternative will be to rip the files to a format that adobe can use , simple put , place the dvd in , and let this program convert ( http://www.xilisoft.com/dvd-ripper.html ) , then drag the file to adobe , easy peezy japaneezy!
