Will external speakers override built in monitor speakers?

The HP 2009m 20" LCD monitor has built in speakers, but I already purchased the Logitech Z-4 speakers. Will the Logitech Z-4 speakers automatically override the monitors built in speakers? Or will I have to override it manually?

You need to plug which ever set of speakers you intend to use into the speaker port on the computer. Your monitor will have an input for the sound, separate from the video. There is a cable that runs from that input to the output on the back of your computer. Without that cable, you will not get sound from the monitor speakers. Just plug the Logitech speaker cable into the output.

If you are using a digital cable for the monitor that has audio built in, you can disable the audio on that cable in the monitors control panel/ setup program.
