What is the easiest and safest way to mount speaker brackets onto a ceiling?

mount directly to rafter/joist. if you use an anchor into drywall it will work it self loose from all the vibrations. If you cant find the rafter go buy a stud finder at your local hardware store. they start about $6 and work quit well.
