Scratched cd in DVD rom?
i have a CD and its a bit scratched. I put it in my computer's Sony DVD drive and it didnt work! i tried to play it and only worked for a few seconds and after that even the drive didnt open out. I had to use the needle-hole in the drive to get the CD out.... i also heard a noice coming for inside it.
Will the DVD rom be affected badly by this?
How can i get this CD to work?
Well the DVD/CD player should work fine once you removed the CD, it uses a laser to read the disk so as long as the mechanism that spins the CD is undamaged it should work fine.
As to how to fix the scratched CD, that's another story you can try using window cleaner and a non-abrasive tisseu to "polish" the surface clean or use one of those CD scratch removal kits (Which you a fine abrasive to gently remove the top layer of the scratch) and see if that help.. Best bet is to cimply attempt to copy as much of the CD from the DISK onto your hard drive and burn a new copy from the hard drive, then discard the disk.
