Of course he is! You only need to look at his early material and how it has impacted on the world of music. For example, how many people can sing along to 'Sweet Caroline'? Probably about 90% of people. How many people know The Monkees' "I'm a Believer"? Well it was written by Neil Diamond. How many people know UB40's "Red Red Wine"? Guess what??? Yes... Mr Neil Diamond once again. He wrote it and performed it first!
So many of his songs are now set into popular culture (partly due to the karaoke revolution). I bet you all know these songs:
