Ohms Unused
Ohms Unused

I have one 4 ohm speaker and a 2 channel amp. Is it o.k. to use just one side of the amp? Any harm?
I just want to be sure that using only one side of an amp is o.k. Any special considerations? Should I leave the unused channel set at 0?
One channel is fine.
But instead of relying on the amp control to remain at 0, consider using a shorting plug for the INPUT of the 2nd channel. That way it will always be 0, no matter what the control is set to.
Also, you might consider a power resistor (4 or 8 ohm) for the 2nd channel output so it sees a load instead of an open. Some amps don't like to have an open on one channel while the other is used.
