Ion USB record player?

I was given an entry level ION USB record player for Xmas. Since then, I have invested in some new vinyl records. Although I'm happy with the player, I was wondering if I can make it sound even better with a new catridge. I was looking to buy the Shure M97xE High-Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge. Will this improve the sound, or is it just a waste of money?

It depends on how much this new cartridge costs. If it is real expensive then no, it's not worth it.
