Problem with mp3 player & earphones.?

Previously, when i would plug my earphones into my mp3 player, you could just hear the beats and not the singing. I even bought new ones and used expensive ones and they still didn't work. Now you can hear the sound perfectly...... but out of one ear! Can someone help me fix this problem?
