How am I to RECORD my voice using my mic in Media player?

I have a microphone connected and operating on my terminal. I need to record a voice message.
How / what package am I to use in my Windows XP system to do this?

Unfortunately, you cannot record your voice in Windows Media Player. However, you can in Windows Sound Recorder. Click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then Entertainment, the Sound Recorder. If your mic is plugged in, you can begin recording with the record button (looks like maroon circle).
