Can I connect two Xboxes with a powerline adapter?
I want to connect two xboxes with a powerline adapter. Would that work?
Also, powerline adapters are the ones that you get a pair of, and you plug an ethernet cable into each one and plug each one into an outlet, right?
If I'm wrong, then what am I talking about?
If I'm right, do they normally come in pairs?

Two Xboxes usually would need some sort of switching between them. This goes beyond the scope of this question, but boils down to:
Two like devices need either a switch or router
Laptop --Router -- Laptop
or a crossover cable (less common to consumers then straight cables)
Laptop --crossovercable -- Laptop
that is the general rule for connecting to like devices with RJ45 connectors (which your xboxes have)
So if the powerline adapters don't work, buy one crossover cable, and use that to connect one xbox to the powerline adapter (you only need one, because you only have to have the crossover once) and try that before you give up
