Powerline networking & switch combination possible?
I have an interesting question but I assume it will work. I am on powerline networking in my house, downstairs has the cable modem attached to a wireless router, one port goes to a powerline networking network component that gets fed upstairs to the receiving computer. However I would like to have multiple ports upstairs for a few more components. Can I split that powerline connection off with a switch upstairs and still retain that powerline connection or is there a better way to network the house? I used to have it all on networking upstairs but I could never get a solid connection that stayed live even with a pre-N or an extended range G wireless router.
I can't see any reason why that would not work. If you have a good connection over the power line a switch arrangement such as you suggest should be fine.
