My personal choice would be to leave it on the hook. This guitar is made out of plywood. Not solid wood. But like I said, that's my choice.
For the $250 - $275 range, finding a guitar of this quality is not all that hard to do. I think that Martin has a guitar like this. Check them out. Perhaps look at an Ovation but be ready to shell out some serious $$$'s. Especially for the made in the U.S.A. lines.
But don't be discouraged by what I'm telling you, because like all things musical, if you like the sound, and the instrument feels good in your hands, buy it! That's what music is about isn't it?
And besides, it's a Fender. There is a genuine company with a long history behind it.
