If I splice my speaker wire together will the quality to the speakers be reduced?
Now that I have decided to move my sound system from where it had been previously located my cable wires are to short .Will I be able to just splice on new cable or will I have to purchase all new wire to get the same quaility sound? If I can splice on to the old wiring is there a certain type of device that works better than other for splicing ? I was wondering, will I really be saving any money by using this method or just fork over the money and buy new cable .
both the others are correct, quallity will not be effected.
I have a different suggest for the splice though, i simply twist the wire together firmly (about 1/2-3/4") and then cover it with shrik tube... just be sure to use the proper size. it not only makes a excelent connection, it also shields the wires...
I typically use a tube for each connection, then a third larger one over both (wire pair)
