can i hook up a set of 4ohms mtx subs to a pioneer vsx-305 receiver thats 8 ohms ?

The 8 ohm rating on your receiver is just to tell you what power it produces into 8 ohms. you had better have allot of headroom on that receiver, at least 1.5db if you plan to hook up a 4ohm load to it! and also the impedance fluctuates greatly on what is playing. it is always best to
have a component such as your receiver that follows ohms
law! look it up, it may help you decide whether you want to fry your receiver or not! good luck! that is too great of a load on your receiver i am quite sure!
