Use a sub woofer or upgrade the speaker?

I have built a pair of full range speakers using the hi vi b3n driver. When the volume is high the speakers are close to over excursion. I have thought of two options that i think could work. One is to have a subwoofer (i am not sure at what frequency, prop 120hz) but would that reduce the speaker excursion dramatically or not really? The second option i thought was to upgrade the speaker by running it three way and have the hi vi b3n driver as mid and have a woofer and ribbon tweeter. Would this be a better option? Also cost the subwoofer would be the most expensive option but if it solves the problem i would not mind.
Please help have had this dilemma for a few months now.. :(
Thanks

Good clean sounding speakers by hivi, its good as a mid channel speaker for sure. I say a cheap eq would solve your problem, Use a sub and I think you will be happy.
