Can you connect a Portable sony DVD Player to a PS2
Are you trying to use a portable DVD player as a small television for the PS2? You can do this if your DVD player has an input for external audio and video.
My portable Sony DVD player came with an AV adapter cable for this purpose. The cable can be used to either output AV to another TV, or allow AV input to go into the player. One end of the cable is the 2.5mm (or 3.5mm?) AV plug that goes into the DVD player AV input/output. The other end is three male RCA plugs: yellow for composite video, and red and white for stereo audio. Your player might offer a different video connection type (S-video or component video would be better than composite).
So I bought an RCA coupler. The coupler allowed me to connect the PS2 composite AV male RCA plugs (yellow-red-white) to the adapter cable's male RCA plugs. I switched the DVD AV source to external, and the screen showed the PS2 output.
I also plug in sound reduction headphones. The audio is better through headphones, and I the sound reduction is so that I can play games in the car during long road trips (10 hours to my friend's cabin). I plug both the player and PS2 into a cigarette lighter power inverter. Links for the items mentioned here are below.
