SHARP LC-42SB45U does not hook up to my surround sound receiver?

I'VE TRIED TO HOOK UP 2 DIFFERENT RECEIVERS AND I CAN'T GET MY TV SPEAKERS TO TURN OFF NOR MY SURROUND SPEAKERS TO TURN ON. I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS AUDIO INPUT TO CHANGE TO DIGITAL OR PCM. ANY SUGGESTIONS OUT THERE?

This question reminds me of this one time when I was dropping mentos into diet coke bottles. At first I was all like "hey this is pretty cool". But then I was all like, "lets kick this up a notch". As a chemistry major, I understood the basic science behind it, so figured I would just scale the reaction up. I replaced the mentos with a firecracker and replaced the diet coke with a 5-gallon bucket of gasoline. I stood really really far back because as a chem major, I've read at least three books on the subject of science. Because I was so far back I believe it took ten tries before I could throw the firecracker and hit the bucket. When I did, I saw what can only be described as a miracle. First the light. So much light, everything else around me ceased to exist. I was no longer standing in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart. I was in a world of pure light. Then came the sound. It sounded like my sharp lc-42sb45u surround sound receiver successfully working, turned up to max volume while I blew some terrorists back to Babylon in modern warfare 2. And I don't mean blew in the sexual way either. Hope that helps.
