What happens to the Windows system clock when the computer is in sleep mode?

I am writing a little Visual Basic program that makes use of the system clock to open up an application at a specific time.

I am setting a variable equal to the current system clock.
example: time = Now

My program does not seem to be executing as I expect it to when I run it overnight. Does the Windows system clock get stopped during sleep mode?

Well you need to write something that makes use of the BIOS clock.
That clock is powered by the CMOS battery (a little Lithium Ion cell) and it runs whether your PC is on or off. I'm not sure how you could access that from VB but I bet since VB is a MS product ,there should be some lower lever functions in order to access that clock too. VB is not good at lower level stuff though so I would've put my money on it.
I did a quick Google on "access BIOS clock VB" and found some interesting stuff..I suggest you should take a look at that too.
