how to remove some salt from cabbage pickle juice?
I have some home-made cabbage pickle juice that came out a bit too salty this year. I'm wondering weather or not I can tune the salt down a little somehow without boiling it, or making it toxic.
I make home made sauerkraut, and I let it freeze from months outside on the balcony of my apartment here in Toronto Canada, it keeps the smell down, and salty is good thing, when you go to use it rinse or soak it in water 1 or 2 times to remove the extra salt, it will not be toxic if you boil it, salt is a preservative, I had an aunt back in the 1970's who made this incredible sauerkraut salad, and it was ironically sweet, she rinse the sauerkraut and made a sweet vinegar dressing, and believe or not you could not tell it was sauerkraut when eating it, I would let it stand for awhile longer to let the cabbage work before doing anything rash, besides it keeps longer the saltier it is, you could pour off some of the brine and add a weak vinegar and water solution to tone it down if you want to.
