Make surround system with old(around 2007) RCA tuner and speakers?
Ok, so three years ago my family bought an RCA tuner with two great speakers. There are like 8 more speakers lying around my house, so I have thought of making a home theater with surround system in my room to watch movies and play xbox 360 with surround sound. The speakers are all from different brands " RCA, Sony, Aiko, etc." and have different sizes since they are from different components. The cables don't all fit into the back of the tuner, since it only has the holes from the two original speakers, but I connected each one by itself and they all worked perfectly fine. Can I buy an adapter to put in the back of the tuner to have more red-black slots? If I do, is there going to be a way to distinguish between different positions of the room( front right, front left, rear right, rear left)? Thanks.
No unfortunately you cannot do what you want to do with that RCA receiver (you call it a tuner but if it outputs to speakers its a receiver). It only has two amplifiers and is designed for stereo. You need a receiver that can decode surround sound and that has the amplifiers (at least five of them) to drive the surround sound speakers. Although it might not sound the best you can use the extra speakers you have IF the impedance of the speakers match the impedance requirements of the new surround sound receiver you buy.
