What kind of replacement needle/cartridge can I get for a Technics SL 1950 turntable?
I was given a Technics SL 1950 turntable a while ago, and it worked fine until the needle needed to be replaced. I would rather march down to Guitar Center and pick up a whole new cartridge, they still use the same connection point right? Is this possible, or am I going to have to scour the internet for the right needle and cartridge, etc.
There is no reason to replace the cartridge if it still works, depending on the design it can be a tricky job with fine wire/connections and small screws. Also the arm balance may change. Any place stocking complete cartridges will likely have the needle / stylus available separately as well.
