how to hook up a turntable?

We have a very old receiver and speakers and and equally ancient turntable. We want to use the turntable, but use it with our existing set up which is our cable box/dvd player and tv. Do we have to have the receiver to use the turntable or any way to plug RCA cables into our other stuff?

if your old receiver has a phono in put yes you can if not youwill have to get a phono preamp then connect it to a line in input like tape dvd ect a small preamp 30 plus dollars
