How do I make my cat understand this?

I put her in front of a mirror and pointed out that she has a tail, vertical eye slits, pointed ears, whiskers and is covered in fur.
I told her she looks like a CAT not a person but she doesn't believe me and also still thinks she is the boss in my house.

Oh, John. (sigh) The sooner you realize that your cat IS the boss in your house, the happier you both will be!

Seriously, you can train a cat off certain behaviors, like jumping up on your kitchen table, by using squirt guns. And you can train her not to scratch your furniture by giving her a preferable scratching post, and making your furniture less inviting with certain sprays made for this purpose. But overall, your cat is your cat - she's not going to change much, personality-wise. (Trust me - I would LOVE it if my cat would let me pick her up and hold her more, but I take what I can get.) Does she like you? Does she come to you for affection as well as food? If so, then I think you're doing all right.
