When floating and taping drywall, do you tape the seams where the wall and ceiling meet?
This is my first time floating and taping drywall. Do you float and tape the seams where the wall and the ceiling meet? What if there are some pretty big gaps? How do you fill the gaps?
What I do if there are really big gaps 1/4" or more is to mix up some plaster and fill most of the crack with that. The plaster will set up and be hard in minutes so then you can finish it over the regular joint compound. If you try to use joint compound to fill a wide or deep crack it will take forever to dry and will shrink and crack, making a second, third, or fouth application necessary. Where walls and ceilings meet at right angles it is more likely to form cracks, so taping would be a good idea unless you are installing some sort of crown molding, in which case it is not really necessary.
