How do I get my wireless mic to connect to my controller?

I have two controllers, a wired and a wireless one. No matter which controller slot I put my wireless controller on, my mic won't connect to the same slot. I don't have this problem with my wired (it always connects to the wired). I also recently lent my wireless to a friend, so it might still be connected to his Xbox somehow but I don't know why.
